 
An after school study program that targets students grades 1-8th.
The goal of the program is to promote self-esteem, make learning
fun and exciting, motivate students to increase study time, develop
skills, and transform and empower the student's attitudes toward
learning and achievement. The program utilizes college students as
mentors and encourages parental involvement. The program serves
forty children in underserved communities of Alameda County at
Southgate Elementary, Hayward and Burckhalter Elementary School,
Oakland.
Each quarter this program provides over 2500 free books to selected
organizations and programs that promote literacy and reading for
children of all ages. The books are distributed through community
events and are used to promote learning and literacy skills in
low-income communities. Organizers that wish to receive books

This program is a partnership with The Major League Baseball Players Trust and Volunteers of America nationally. The program recruits high school youth and encourages them to get involved by volunteering in their community. The program promotes leadership skills and offers a unique opportunity to better their community. The Bay Area currently has Action Teams in Hayward, Orinda, and San Francisco.
