Operation Good Neighbor
Volunteers of America Bay Area, has been a staple in the Bay Area community since 1896. We continue to diligently work to fulfill our mission of service, by providing unique programs designed to assist, treat and help empower people to transform the quality of their lives and expand their opportunities.

Operation Good Neighbor is certainly no exception as one of the many ways that we strive to achieve this realization of caring in our community at large. Each and every year for the past seventeen years, Volunteers of America Bay Area has been instrumental in successfully conducting Operation Good Neighbor Holiday Food Give-Away. OGN distributes over 2,500 baskets of food to Bay Area low-income and elderly residents. Over 10,000 Bay Area resident men, women and children are fed! Operation Good Neighbor raises the spirits of individuals and families during the holiday season.

Volunteers
Volunteers are essential to the success of Operation Good Neighbor food give away. Individuals like you make it possible for us to brighten the holiday season for so many needy families. The volunteers lend a hand in different activities including:

• Pre-event set-up
• Work behind the tables, placing food in boxes
• Walk the line, carrying packages to be filled
• Assemble & tape boxes
• Loading packages into vehicles
• After event clean-up
• Delivering food baskets to individuals

This is a great volunteer opportunity for you, your family members or group to lend a helping hand during the holiday season. There's a job for everyone, however, be aware that the pace is fast and packages could weigh up to 25 lbs.

We at Volunteers of America Bay Area sincerely extend our gratitude for all the volunteers that come forth to lend a helping hand each year. OGN takes several months of planning. All of our many volunteers help to bring it together. Each and every hand present at the event comes together for the common goal of helping others in need.
