Oakland, October 30, 2002 - Volunteers of America Bay Area’s Annual Operation Good Neighbor Holiday Food Basket program gears up on Saturday, November 23, 2002.
Now in its 17th year of providing one of the Bay Area’s largest community outreach programs, Volunteers of America Bay Area raises the spirits of individuals and families during the holidays by giving food baskets to those who are alone, on fixed incomes, or unable to get assistance. Community and social service organizations throughout Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin and Santa Clara Counties has provide more than 2000 referrals to Volunteers America Bay Area for this year’s program.

More than 300 volunteers are needed for a variety of task including administrative support and the assemble and delivery of baskets. On assembly day volunteers will meet at 7:00 a.m. at Gate D, Oakland Coliseum to assemble over 2000 food baskets for needy families.
