John BaileyJohn Roger Bailey, Jr.

John Roger Bailey was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended Southwestern State University where he graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management. In 1974, he received his Masters in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from Michigan State University. He completed the University of Pittsburgh, Joseph M. Katz School of Business Management Program for Executives in May 1990.
Upon completion of Officer Candidate School in Newport Rhode Island, he was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy in July 1968. During his Navy career as a Supply Corps Officer, he was assigned to various commands around the world. As a Navy Captain, John attended the National War College and completed a one-year National Security Strategy study. John received numerous military decorations and awards. After 28 years of honorable service, John retired as a Navy Captain in 1996, with demonstrated experience in marketing, contract management, acquisition, and program development. Following his retirement, he assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer for a major law firm. In September 1997, John became President/CEO of Volunteers of America Bay Area, Inc.
John is a lecturer and public speaker. In addition, he has provided consulting services on subjects related to Diversity in the Workplace. He also serves as a mentor to young minority high school students. John serves as the Chair, (East Bay Metropolitan Unit American Cancer Society), East Bay Metropolitan Unit; City of Oakland's Workforce Investment Board, and on the Board of Directors of the Lord Tennyson Apartments Inc., a low-income apartment complex, John is also a past President of the National Naval Officers Association (NNOA) a not-for-profit representing the career interests of Minority Sea Service and currently a member of the local NNOA chapter. Moreover, he is an active member of First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Oakland and serves as a Steward.
John has traveled extensively throughout the world. He has two daughters and one son. He is a sports and music enthusiast.

Kerry Beuthin

Kerry has been working as the Director of Development for Volunteers of America Bay Area since 2003. She is responsible for fundraising, marketing, communications and public relations for the organization.
Kerry has a background in health education and holds a bachelors degree in Community Health Education from San Francisco State University. She has been a professional fundraiser since 1998 and has worked for organizations like United Cerebral Palsy, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Teleosis Institute, and The Alameda County Health Care Foundation. She is a member if the Golden Gate Chapter of Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

Jacqueline Kidd has been the Director of Human Resources and Organizational Development for Volunteers of America Bay Area since 2002. With a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications, concentrating on Public Relations, from San Francisco State University she spent over 20 years in the corporate world building workforce teams that are reflective of our ever-changing society and trends in the workplace.
Jacqueline is very active in the continued growth and development of new and existing programs, most recently developing, organizing, and implementing an Emergency Disaster Relief component to the core of services offered at the agency.
Jacqueline is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Northern California Human Resources Association (NCHRA). She feels is it necessary for every organization to invest in “human capital” in order to be competitive in the 21st century and beyond.
